Airspaces API Provides Modern, Flexible, Responsive Access to Navigation Data

A key element of flight safety is the ability to identify and navigate through – or avoid – any airspace. There are more than 37,000 airspaces worldwide. And while data is indispensable to successful navigation, aeronautical data typically is only available in complex, difficult to parse formats and accessible only through large file transfers on a cyclical basis.

The Airspaces API – powered by the same unmatched NavData® used by airlines, corporate flight departments, and global avionics providers – supplies a modern, flexible, and responsive means of accessing industry-leading Jeppesen Airspace data. Airspaces API takes the complexity out of integrating Airspace data into a wide variety of aviation and non-aviation applications, using a lightweight, on-demand web interface.

APIs are designed to facilitate access to data, helping application developers simplify their efforts, promote the rapid transfer of data, and enable greater functionality. The Airspaces API reflects the most complete and accurate aeronautical information available. It includes high resolution geometry, vertical limits, class, designation, and identifying information. Requests for Airspace data can be optionally filtered by airspace designation, applicable altitude level, or search area.

This information is updated every 28 days, in line with the Aeronautical Information Regulation and Control cycle, allowing users to pinpoint exactly what they’re looking for using geographical area search.

Boeing Developer Tools, the company’s developer-focused website, allows developers and technical project managers to browse, test, and purchase APIs, as well as software development kits (SDKs).

Born out of a need to connect Boeing’s digital products and services, Boeing Developer Tools is the driving force behind the company’s programming resources. Boeing has almost a century of aviation data history, making Boeing Developer Tools indispensable as aerospace developers build their next application.
